Prevents & Controls Iron Staining and Scale Formation

Dissolved metals and minerals (such as iron, copper, calcium, manganese and magnesium) in pool water and the corrosion of metal pool fittings will often cause staining and/or scaling. Metal Out Plus is an aqueous solution of hydroxyethylidene-diphosphonic acid (HEDP) that is best used for metallic stain removal and prevention of hard water scaling. This product is used in swimming pools to reduce scale formation in pumps and pool heaters, to eliminate plugging of filters and to reduce iron staining. Soluble metals can be inhibited from precipitation by sequestering/chelating agents that bind with the colored metal ion to keep it in solution.

Metal Out Plus sequesters the material causing stains and scale and holds them in solution. Regular use of this product helps keep pool water clear and the pool walls and prevent corrosion of metal pool fittings. Use of Metal Out Plus as part of the pool maintenance program will result not only in the control of scale, but also in the removal of existing deposits. This product is also highly effective as a rust-control agent. Metal Out Plus is available in 1 quart bottles (32 oz.) or 1 gallon jugs (128oz.) [1 case = 4 gallons].

DIRECTIONS FOR USE:

• Maintain pool water in the pH range of 7.2 to 7.6. If pH falls below 7.0, serious corrosion problems may result.
• For best results, use Metal Out Plus in the evening with the pool pump and filter operating overnight.
• Add sixteen (16) ounces of Metal Out Plus per 10,000 gallons of water by premixing into plastic pail of water and then dispensing solution at deep end of the pool.
• Cloudiness accompanied by white flakes may appear indicating that the product is working, the cloudiness will eventually disappear.

MAINTENANCE TREATMENT:

• Follow all steps outlined above.
• Every 4-5 days, add two (2) ounces of Metal Out Plus per 10,000 gallons of pool water, to prevent stain and scale formation.
  Note: In hard water areas where calcium hardness exceeds 300 ppm, it is advisable to double the dosages listed above. However, DO NOT increase the dosages more than double for one application.
